Audi of America has created a new brand marketing team and appointed Emilie Cotter as its chief marketing officer and head of brand marketing and communications, the company said Tuesday.
The team will be responsible for Audi’s marketing and communications strategy as the company prepares to launch new electric vehicles.
“This restructure comes at a critical inflection point in the U.S. for Audi and the automotive industry,” Audi of America President Daniel Weissland said in a statement. “Emilie’s strong leadership will drive innovative brand strategies, enhance collaboration and put a laser focus on the customer as we continue our ambitious growth.”
Cotter joined Audi of America in 2020. Prior to her new appointment, Cotter served as chief communications officer, leading the automaker's brand, lifestyle, product and corporate communications. She also served as head of corporate and brand communication for Lucasfilm before joining Audi.
The Volkswagen Group, which owns Audi, has undergone several management changes since CEO Oliver Bloom took the helm in September 2022. In June, Gernot Döllner replaced Markus Duesmann as Audi’s CEO, charging him with leading the brand’s transition to EVs. Döllner took over as chair of Audi’s board of management on Sept. 1.
According to MotorTrend, Audi will debut a new electric SUV, the Q6 e-tron, in spring 2024. The automaker plans to launch about 20 new models by 2025 — half of them will be EVs. Audi said its U.S. model lineup will be at least 30% electrified by 2025.
