Peter Stern, the president of Ford Motor Co.’s Integrated Services unit who reported directly to CEO Jim Farley, is stepping down on Dec. 31, according to securities filings.
Stern is leaving to become CEO and president of Peloton Interactive, the exercise equipment and media company.
Ford’s chief enterprise technology officer, Michael R. Amend, will lead the Integrated Services unit on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is named, the automaker announced in an Oct. 30 SEC filing.
Stern joined the automaker from Apple in August 2023 to lead its newly formed Ford Integrated Services unit, which launched two months later. He was responsible for creating and marketing software-enabled customer experiences across Ford Blue, Model e and Ford Pro.
Stern and his team were also tasked with building out the business for Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free automated driving system and the automaker’s productivity, safety and security services, including from the Ford Pro Intelligence commercial business, according to Ford’s website.
Prior to joining Ford, Stern spent over six years as vice president of services at Apple. He managed Apple TV, iCloud, Apple News and other core services. He also led marketing for the App Store and Apple Music.
Ford’s Integrated Services unit has more than 550,000 paid software and services subscribers, according to the automaker, with Ford Pro commercial customers accounting for more than 80% of the subscriber base.
Stern is the second executive to depart the automaker in recent weeks. In mid-September, Ford Pro CEO Ted Cannis announced his retirement after a long career with the company. Cannis led Ford Pro since its founding in 2021.
Editor’s note: On Nov. 7, Ford announced it had extended Peter Stern’s separation date by a few weeks, to Dec. 31. This story was updated to reflect the new separation date.
