Ford Motor Co. announced Thursday that Ted Cannis, CEO of Ford Pro and the Ford Customer Service Division, will retire at the end of September, according to a press release.
Cannis, who has led the fast-growing Ford Pro unit since its founding in 2021, started his career with the automaker in 1989 in finance. Notably, he served as global director of the company’s battery electric vehicles segment from 2017 to 2020, leading Team Edison, which developed the Mustang Mach-E.
Ford appointed two leaders in Cannis’ stead:
- Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue, will lead Ford Pro on an interim basis until the company announces a new leader.
- Daniel Justo, CFO of Ford Blue, has been named VP of FCSD, and a company officer, effective Oct. 1. In his new role leading FCSD on a global scale, Justo will report to Frick.
Ford Pro has become the automaker’s most profitable segment with $2.6 billion in earnings in Q2. Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO, said the business had 600,000 paid subscribers during the quarter, and is on track to become a “true, technology-driven growth business.”
“Ted’s energy and passion for customers has been instrumental in building Ford Pro into a business that’s tracking towards $70 billion in revenue this year — a Fortune 100-size company in its own right,” Farley said in the release. “Ford Pro has the widest and most flexible commercial vehicle lineup, an industry-leading service network including our dealerships and upfitter partnerships, and a sharp focus on lowering the total cost of ownership and increasing uptime for customers.”
Farley added that FCSD is another growth opportunity for the company, citing an estimated $100 billion-plus profit pool for maintenance, repair, parts and other services outside of the dealer network.
