American Honda Motor’s top sales executive has been named CEO of Piston Group.
Mamadou Diallo, formerly SVP of auto sales at American Honda Motor, took over the chief executive role from Piston Group founder and Chairman Vinnie Johnson on June 10, the automotive supplier announced in a press release Monday.
Diallo — who will report to Johnson — will help manage the company’s overall operational performance, financial management, planning and reporting. He will also be responsible for the financial controls and performance of Piston Group’s subsidiaries: Piston Automotive, Piston Interiors, A. Lava & Son and Detroit Thermal Systems.
In the release, Johnson called Diallo “a proven market leader with deep knowledge of the automotive industry.”
"His 23 years of experience at American Honda Motor Co., where he held the top commercial role for the company within the United States, and oversaw sales, logistics, strategy and product communications will prove to be a significant addition as I continue to grow my team and our overall approach to strategy and customer satisfaction,” Johnson said.
Joining Honda as a trainee in 2001, Diallo went on to hold numerous leadership roles with the automaker, including vice president of auto sales, responsible for Honda and Acura sales in the U.S., Caribbean and Central America; vice president of auto operations, overseeing product planning, sales and production planning and logistics; and assistant vice president of Acura national sales, incentive and strategy, among other positions.
Piston Group employs nearly 10,000 people at more than 20 locations across North America, according to the release. It reported revenues of $3.2 billion in 2023.
Diallo’s appointment comes after Piston Group named Jana Rosenmann as president of assembly supplier Piston Automotive in April. She succeeded Bob Holloway, who was promoted to Piston Group’s COO in December.
