Lithium-ion battery manufacturer TeraWatt Technology named Annie Liu as an external director, according to a May 8 press release.
Liu serves as chief commercial and strategy officer at lithium refiner Mangrove Lithium, as of March. Prior, Liu was head of supply chain for Tesla’s battery and energy division where she spearheaded cell sourcing partnerships and secured upstream battery materials, according to the press release.
Liu also served as executive director at Ford Motor Company, where she helped establish a partnership deal with a cell manufacturer.
"We believe that Ms. Liu's extensive global experience in supply chain and business development will accelerate our future endeavors towards more robust product development and scaling up." TeraWatt CEO and founder Ken Ogata said in the release.
California-based startup TeraWatt was founded in 2020, per Crunchbase. The company has Japan-based investors, where TeraWatt operates a subsidiary.
Although the company doesn’t have products on the market, last year it announced it was accelerating the large-scale pilot production of its next-generation batteries.
"TeraWatt has an innovative approach to battery design and manufacturing,” Liu said in the release. “I'm excited to help TeraWatt with its premium product to accelerate toward commercialization.”
