Toyota Motor North America EVP and Chief Strategy Officer Christopher Reynolds will retire from the role May 30, the company announced Feb. 25.
Reynolds' retirement continues a wave of leadership changes at the automaker as part of its strategy to better position itself for the future.
Reynolds, who has been with Toyota since 2007, will transition to senior advisor on April 1, according to the release. Toyota Motor Corp. also announced his nomination to its board of directors and assignment to its audit and supervisory committee, pending shareholder approval during the automaker’s general meeting in June.
Ted Ogawa, president of TMNA, said Reynolds has a proven and wide-ranging success track record. The automaker said his successor will be announced soon.
Before joining Toyota in 2007, Reynolds was a partner at the law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in New York City, where he worked as manager of the firm’s labor and employment law group and served as member of the firm’s advisory board. He previously served as an assistant U.S. Attorney in the criminal division of the Southern District of New York.
TMNA said that Chris Yang, group VP of enterprise strategy and solutions and president and CEO of Toyota Connected North America, will take over Reynolds’ leadership roles in global compliance and global risk functions effective April 1. Yang will also continue in his current roles, the automaker said.
In addition to leadership shifts at TMNA, Toyota also announced changes within its corporate leadership ranks:
- Yoichi Miyazaki was named EVP, CFO and chief competitive officer.
- Keiji Yamamoto was named chief information and security officer, digital information and communication group.
- Hiroshi Nanbu was named president, business planning and operation.
- Toshiyuki Hibi was named deputy chief officer, digital information and communication group.
- Hideharu Matsuoka was named deputy chief officer, digital information and communication group.
- Chika Kako was named EVP, advanced R&D and engineering company; senior general manager, material technology field; and general manager, Higashifuji technical center.
